A little wonder, shared

In the late 1990s, my sister, our friends, and I were fascinated by books of hidden 3D pictures. We would spend hours exploring colorful patterns, trying to discover what was hiding inside. We had no idea how they worked. To us, it was magic.

With little pocket money, we couldn’t buy many books, so we traded them with one another to see as many pictures as we could. Every borrowed book held more secrets to uncover, and every discovery was something to share.

That love stayed with me. I understand how stereograms work now, but knowing the explanation hasn’t taken away the magic.

Years later, I showed a few to my own children.

“It’s a prank,” they said. “No way there’s something hiding in those patterns!”

I encouraged them to keep trying. Then came the moment I’d been hoping for:

“WOW, I SEE IT!”

After that, they wanted another picture. And another. For a while, we were gathered around the same images, making discoveries and enjoying each other’s excitement. It brought back something I remembered so fondly from childhood.

Why Hidden Wonderland began

I wanted to create more of those moments for my family and share them with others: a reason to slow down, spend a little time together, and discover something surprising.

I started making stereograms for my children, choosing patterns and hidden objects inspired by the things they loved: soccer, trains, Halloween, and more. Their excitement made me want to keep creating. Eventually, I began imagining a whole book of hidden pictures.

Christmas felt like the natural place to begin. It’s a time when we look for ways to bring a little extra joy to the people we love. When I couldn’t find the Christmas book I imagined, I decided to create it.

Hidden Wonderland brings together colorful patterns, hidden scenes, and the pleasure of looking a little longer. I spend time choosing the artwork and refining the pictures, imagining the moment someone discovers what’s hidden inside.

Some pictures reveal themselves quickly. Others invite another visit. My hope is that these books give you discoveries worth sharing and moments you’ll enjoy returning to.
